Do This Instead of Making a Resolution

In my recent post about New Years resolutions, I talked about why you shouldn’t make resolutions. So naturally the next question is “What should I do instead?”

Simply put: Set goals. Make a plan. Create a motto/mantra.

A motto/mantra is a motivational statement that summarizes how I approach life during the year. Last year, my motto was “Do all things with love.”  This year my motto is “Do the things that scare you.”Why? Because frankly we can all achieve great things if we just have the courage to try.

I have been blogging for several years now and the vast majority of my articles have been hair related. I’m naturally a very private person, so being vulnerable and open is probably the scariest thing for me. Yet, I have very strong opinions about everything (as any of my friends will confirm). I just chose to not talk about certain topics publicly.

That all changes this year. My goal with this blog is always to empower women. I strive to come from a place of encouraging support. By expanding the topics, I hope that sharing my experiences will help you in your life beyond hair care. You may not always agree with my perspective and that’s okay; I enjoy healthy dialog with varying opinions. But what lawyer doesn’t? The guest bloggers will also have an opportunity to share their personal stories and opinions on the new topics. We have such a diverse group of educated, successful women that it will be insightful to read about their experiences as well.

Fun fact: I’m the rider on the horse in the picture above. Horses actually scared me before I started riding years ago. I got over that fear by taking riding lessons. Funny how that works.

What would be your motto/mantra for your 2015 goals? What topics do you want me talk about?
