The internet is abuzz with various people chiming in on the subject of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s bangs. There are even two twitter accounts dedicated to Michelle’s new ‘do.
Opinions vary from being positive (ex. she looks young and fashionable) to negative (ex. Joan River’s tweet “Today starts President Obama’s next four years in the White House. Let’s hope the same isn’t true about the first lady’s new hairdo.”)
I think it’s great that our First Lady is trying something new. President Obama seems quite smitten with her (as if his visible adoration could be anymore obvious) and referred to her haircut as “the most significant event of this weekend.” Every marriage, no matter how public, does well with shaking things up every now and then.
Although I think the bangs look great on Michelle, I also think that they appear to age her a little. Granted, she looks amazing for being 49 years old.
My issue is with the type of bangs she has because they cover her eyebrows. Eyebrows are an essential part of your facial features and a good eyebrow arching is probably the cheapest face lift a woman can get to instantly make her look a few years younger.
Perhaps a side swept bang that showed some of her eyebrows would not appear to age her.
In any event, I plan to dust off my faux bangs and wear them again. I’ll just make sure not to cover my eyebrows entirely.
