My First Roller Set in Years

Today was wash day and I decided to roller set my hair instead of doing my usual blow drying and flat ironing routine.

It has literally been years since I last roller set my hair. Mostly because after a certain length, doing a good roller set is next to impossible since my hair was longer than my arms would extend. Now that I’ve cut my hair and it is bra strap length again, I can more easily roller set my hair.

Roller setting is very beneficial for when you are actively trying to grow your hair longer. I was able to achieve most of my hair goals by doing weekly roller sets. A roller set allows your hair to dry and straighten without applying direct heat. One new benefit that I realized today was that it also allows you to see exactly what’s going on with your hair.

I just discovered that my crown area is much thinner than the rest of my hair. I suspect that after years of blowing myself, I caused the thinness because my crown is the hardest section for me to blow dry. I also noticed that the perimeter of my hair is several inches shorter than the rest of my hair. But that may also be the result of my roots being thicker and curler than the ends.

I’m literally sitting under the dryer as I write this post and will post updates tomorrow.

Do you still roller set your hair?
