Deep Conditioners I Love

Below are three of my favorite deep conditioners. This list has been complied out of a long list of other deep conditioners I tried throughout my hair journey. I discovered two that worked well for me very early on but ended up trying several others because at one point I felt as if they were no longer working. Thanks to Ms. Kibibi, I discovered that products don’t just suddenly stop working(unless the ingredients changed or something of course) and that what I really needed to do was clarify my hair. Two important lessons I learned during this timeframe was that the cost of a product does not necessary reflect on its effectiveness and that even great ingredients may simply not mesh well with my specific hair type.

My Favorites

ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner

My mainstay is the popular ORS Olive Oil Deep Conditioner. It has great natural ingredients, leaves my hair feeling really soft and moisturized, makes it much easier to detangle and is very cheap. The biggest drawback for me is the overpowering citrus scent. I don’t get why anyone would want their hair to smell like oranges but I guess the scent of a product is the least. It makes me happy in terms of cost, effectiveness and accessibility (I live in the boondocks so if I can’t find it in a pharmacy or order off Amazon then its a no go), which are the most important factors in me deciding to stick with any product.

Hydrating Macadamia Oil Intensive Moisture Mask

I also love the Hydrating Macadamia Oil Intensive Moisture Mask by Organix. It is more pricey that the Olive Oil but still relatively cheap for a very good product and so I use them interchangeably. I also love the scent! Overall I might prefer how the Olive Oil leaves my hair feeling but I am very easily bored (learning not to try the entire pharmacy and then some is quite a challenge) and so I like to switch things up. Both work really well.

Organx Hydrating Macadamia Oil Intensive Moisture MaskWen Sweet Almond Mint Moisture Mask

I got my jar of Wen from a friend for Christmas and I absolutely love it because it left my hair feeling completely hydrated and my softened my roots well. Many other hyped up brands like Wen did nothing for me so it is a great discovery. I also felt get guilt-free trying a new product when the ones I was already using work well because it was a gift and so I had to at least try it right! That excuse made me feel a little better but this time my experiment worked out well so yay! I will use the Wen until it is finished and then decide if I even prefer it to my beloved ORS. At $20 for 4 ounces though, I will not be replacing the jar unless there is a tremendous difference in my hair quality over the next few weeks because I only get about 2 uses out of 4 ounces. I think I possibly go too heavy on deep conditioners especially with something like this, since it has a very concentrated consistency but I like feeling my hair drenched in conditioner.

On a side note I would love to try Wen’s cleansing conditioners as well for my co-washes but again, they are expensive and do not come in sample sizes :(. I am, however, not happy with my current co-wash conditioners so I may just take the risk and see. If anyone has tried it, please let me know what your experience was like.
