One of my biggest hair pet peeves is when strangers tell me what I should or should not do with my hair. Today’s comment was that I “don’t need a relaxer” (insert eye roll). My #1 personal motto is “Live and let live,” followed closely by “To each their own.” As long as people aren’t hurting themselves or anyone else, I believe every adult has the right to make decisions about their own life.
If you follow my blog, then you know that I never get into the relaxed vs. natural debate. Why? Because I love all hair – relaxed, natural, dreadlocks, cornrowed, braided, shaved down, dyed, you name it. If its healthy and fabulous, then I’ll compliment it and appreciate the beauty of it. I never give unsolicited advice or judge people for what they decide to do with their own hair. So it really grates my nerves when strangers take a condescending tone with me about my hair.
