It’s been a while, since I’m twisted!

Hi there ladies

Yes, it has been a while, and partly because my hairlife is quite simple at the moment. I had twists installed and have had them in a little over three weeks now. It’s the first time that I’m wearing twists and one thing that I’ve noticed is that my hair grows faster than I thought. It’s only been three weeks and the base of my twists don’t look as neat anymore as my new growth is becoming visible. I want to keep them in for another 5 weeks at least and the only way that is going to happen is if I neaten up the twists by loosening them and then reattaching them close to my scalp. Since I can’t twist to save my life, the neatened twists are actually turning into box braids. I can see that in about a week’s time I will have a head full of box braids, whilst I started off with twists.

30 Aug twists

My regimen whilst in the twists is very simple. Spritz with moisturizing braid spray at least once a day and sleep with satin scarf. Since I started rebraiding the twists (I so about 6-8 a night) I would gentle loosen the twist, take out the extention hair, finger detangle my hair, apply TCB Bone strait to help with any knots (it’s uber slippy), apply Amla Legend 1001 Oils Wrap Cream as a moisturizer and then rebraid the hair into a box braid. I’ve lost very little hair and this way I’m slowly but surely already getting rid of shed hair before they become an issue 5 weeks from now. My scalp is happy, my hair feels strong and soft, including my new growth. If I succeed in keeping the twists/braids in for a full 8 weeks I will be 22 weeks post when I remove them. I’m hoping that the long stretch and the long term protective styling will give my hair a boost regarding retention. I REALLY want to reach APL by the 31st of December this year.

What do you ladies like to do to give your retention a boost? Have a lovely Thursday!
