My Braids Regimen

Sorry about my absence! Senior year has been ridiculously busy! I’ve had Senegalese twists in my hair going on 3 weeks and you can probably guess that I can’t do my normal regimen (which I will post later) so here is my braids regimen.

I love to moisturize my hair in twists because it is so easy and takes less than 3 minutes. I use a moisturizing spritz that consists of Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave-In Conditioning Cream, Castor Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Tea Tree Oil, and Water (I will post the recipe soon.) After putting everything in a spray bottle, I spritz my roots as well as the ends of my hair (not the braids but my actual hair). And that’s as difficult as this regimen gets. Every night, I sleep with a bonnet so that the braids can look nice for as long as possible.

Every two weeks, I cleanse my scalp with another spray bottle mixture of diluted shampoo. Specifically, I use TIGI Bed Head Superstar Sulfate-Free Shampoo for Thick Massive Hair and I fill the rest of the bottle with water. I only spray my roots. Then, I rub the shampoo in my scalp using my fingertips to help get rid of the build up from the moisturizer as well as everything else that likes to sit on my scalp.

And that’s it! I am telling my braids regimen because my real regimen is much more time-consuming to write and time is something that I will not have this week. I promise to be back with my normal regimen by next week. Below I have included a simplified version of my regimen and my moisturizer recipe.

Oh and when I say “part(s)” in the recipe, that means I used a shot glass for my measurements. Please don’t judge me. I live in a dorm and I have to use what is available lol. FYI: The rough estimate for a shot glass is 1.5 ounces.

Breakdown:
Morning & Night- Spritz Roots and Ends
Night- Sleep with bonnet
Shampoo every 2 weeks with diluted shampoo
Whenever I get the urge, I do scalp massages with castor oil (I really need to do these more often!)

Moisturizer Spritz Recipe (using a 9 oz. spray bottle):
1 ½ parts Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave-In Conditioning Cream
½ part Extra Virgin Olive Oil
½ part Castor Oil
5 drops Tea Tree Oil

*** I add these ingredients first, because it’s easier to mix these together before adding in the water.

After shaking the bottle well, fill the rest of the bottle with water, shake again to mix it well, and now you have a braids spritz. Also, I have used this same spritz for my braids when I am in weaves. This spray works for me and it is so awesome to use on a hot day.

Have a great day Ladies!
