Product Review: CHI Nourish Intense Hair Mask

I did a co-wash with Chi Nourish Intense Hair Mask a few days ago. I purchased the mask at Marshalls for $10. This was the first time in months that I co-washed my hair. I love the abbreviated wash-day routine but I don’t always have time for the midweek co-washes.

When I co-wash, I follow my usual wash-day routine. First, I spray my hair with aloe vera juice and thoroughly detangle. Next, I braid my hair. The longer I am into my stretch, the more braids I make. For my co-wash I did 12 braids.

This was my first time using this hair mask, so I tested a small section of hair. I wet the end of one braid and slathered on the mask. I let it sit for 5 minutes, rinsed and allowed it to air dry. My hair felt soft after it dried, so the hair mask passed the test!

Next, I hopped in the shower, wet my hair and applied the mask. The mask has a peach scent and a moderately thick consistency. I covered my hair with a shower cap and finished showering. After I showered, I rinsed out the mask and skipped my low pH conditioner (Nexxus Color Ensure Conditioner and Detangler). I wanted to get a true sense of how the mask worked for my hair, so it was the only product I used.

To style, I let my hair air dry until it was 80% dry, then I lightly blow dried and flat ironed in large sections on 275 degrees. My hair felt very soft after it dried and smelled like peaches for a couple of days. The only con I found was that the peach scent was a little overwhelming at first. I would definitely use this product again when I co-wash.
