In case you missed it, yesterday I celebrated my 30th birthday. Hubby has several surprises for me, the first of which was a 1920s Casino Royale themed event. The only instruction I had was to dress up. Well, I decided to exercise some ‘birthday girl’ liberties and step outside of my comfort zone with my outfit choice. I might as well have been in my original birthday suit.

For those who know me personally, you might be gasping and clutching your pearls right now. Believe me, it took hubby a few minutes to pick up his chin off the floor. Being a certified “maga gwal” (translation “skinny mini”), I have always felt self-conscious about being so thin. To be honest, I only started wearing pencil skirts and form fitting dresses about three years ago. Before that time, I always felt too skinny to show off my legs.

One blessing about getting older, is caring less about what others have to say about you. I recently embraced by petite frame and decided to step outside the box on my birthday. I felt amazing! Sometimes you just have to do the thing that scares you. But being true to form, I did have a fabulous jewel-encrusted shrug ready in case I needed a more modest look.

To style my hair, I used the technique in the video below.
So what do you think about my outfit? Be gentle.
