Wig Care Routine

Wigs, weaves and extensions in general need the same TLC (tender loving care) that your real hair does. Why? Because just like your real hair, the extension hair is prone to damage and needs to be repaired/replenished in order to continue looking fabulous.

However, extension hair does require gentle products to retain its look and color. In addition to using gentle products, extension hair also needs moisture. If you notice that your human hair wig/weave is tangling, it may need moisture.

To wash my wig, I use Kirkland Moisture Conditioner to co-wash and then deep condition with Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator. I gently squeeze out the excess water without ruffling the hair cuticle. Then I hang it to drip dry in the shower. I wait until after it has dried completely to style it.

I might try a light protein treatment with the Aphogee reconstructor the next time I wash it. I will be sure to test a piece of the hair before I slather the entire wig with the reconstructor.

How do you care for your wigs/weave?
