Relaxer Prep – The Night Before

If you follow me on Twitter (@kibibihair) then you already know that I am in DC to get my relaxer done.
To prep for my relaxer, I used the following products and techniques.

First, I gently sectioned my hair using vertical parts. I parted with my fingers instead of a comb. One thing I learned with my last relaxer was that vertical parts caused less manipulation and thus less breakage than doing horizontal parts. For most of us, horizontal parts are automatic, but if you find that you get breakage try making vertical parts.

After I parted each section, I sprayed my roots and hair with aloe vera juice. I followed up with the Mizani moisturizer and sealed with the jojoba oil. This is a slight deviation from my usual relaxer prep routine. I think it’s a good change because my hair felt very soft after about 2 minutes and I didn’t experience breakage. Lastly, I made two loose buns and covered my hair for bed.

I will be tweeting during my relaxer appointment tomorrow, so please follow me on Twitter for updates and to chat with me!
