My all time favorite TV show is “I Love Lucy.” The episodes are currently taking up 80% of the harddrive on my DVR, so I can watch them whenever I want. I was up late last night working on the book, and watched an episode where Lucy gives Ricky scalp treatments because he thinks he is going bald. Lucy’s plan was to “torture” Ricky with these scalp treatments, so that he would stop obsessing over his hair. Watch the video to see how her plan panned out.
It got me thinking about some of the growth aids I’ve used in the past. When I started trying to grow my hair, I used everything that had the word “grow” (or sadly some that misspelled the word as “gro”) on the bottle.
But the wildest thing I used was a product called “M-T-G,” a sulfur based solution that is marketed to promote hair growth…in horses (it was also safe for human use).
I first learned about it on the hair forums and it was a very popular bandwagon that I jumped on. I used it for a few months in the winter, but stopped because the smell was unappealing. I can’t really say whether it alone helped to increase my growth rate, because I was also taking lots of vitamins at the time. This was before I realized that retaining the length is the real challenge, not simply growing hair faster.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve done for long hair? If you don’t judge me, then I won’t judge you (wink).
