Product Review: KS Moisture Conditioner

Now that the weather is warming up, I plan to implement conditioner only wash (“co-wash”) as needed. Yesterday was a day that needed it. I went riding and afterward, my hair was so sweaty that I had to wash it. I did a co-wash with the Kirkland Signature Moisture Conditioner. The first time I used it was in Jamaica to co-wash my hair after going to the beach.

How I Used It

I lightly detangled my hair and put it in four braids. While standing in the shower, I wet the braids and then applied the conditioner starting from ends to roots. I let the conditioner sit while I showered, and then thoroughly rinsed my hair and scalp.

This conditioner is very thick and the first time I used it, I did not rinse my scalp enough so there was conditioner residue left on my scalp. The residue made my scalp itchy and flaky when my hair dried. To prevent this from happening again, I thoroughly rinsed my scalp. There was still some residue left but I suspect that was because I only did four braids rather than my usual 8, so it was harder to properly rinse my scalp.

After I washed it, I used Chi Keratin Mist and Salerm leave-in to detangle. I lost minimal hair and my hair detangled easily. I did 4 twists and let my hair air dry. Today, my hair feels soft and moisturized.

Hair lost after co-wash

Pros – Great for co-washes. It has a light fragrance that lingered in my hair even after my hair dried. My hair felt moisturized and did not tangle during the co wash. My hair detangled easily when wet and dried at a normal rate.

Cons – It can be difficult to rinse off your scalp because it is so thick. You can only buy it at Costco or online retailers. I don’t have a Costco close to home, so my mom was kind enough to buy it for me and bring it to Jamaica.

Like/Dislike – Like.
